Questions & Answers
Is the importer address mandatory?
Yes, an importer or EU responsible person address is mandatory for consumer products imported from outside the EU. Under the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), non-EU manufacturers must ensure their products display the name, physical postal address, and electronic contact details of an EU-based economic operator (such as an importer or authorized representative).
Core Requirements
- Physical Postal Address: A street address or PO box, postal code, and city located within the EU must be physically printed on the product or its packaging.
- Manufacturer Info Still Needed: The non-EU manufacturer’s own name and address must also remain on the product or packaging alongside the importer details.
- No Digital Replacements: Websites or email addresses alone cannot replace the requirement for a physical postal address on the label, though they can be provided additionally.
