How long does testing take?

Product compliance testing typically takes 1 to 3 weeks (5 to 15 business days) from the day the laboratory receives your physical product samples.

The exact timeline depends on the complexity of the tests and the product category.

Major Causes of Testing Delays:

  • Sample Transit Time: Shipping physical samples from a factory in China to a laboratory (even a local one) typically adds 3 to 5 days to the total project duration.
  • Insufficient Sample Quantities: If you do not send enough identical pieces, the lab cannot perform destructive testing (like burning or crushing) and will halt the project until replacement samples arrive.
  • Documentation Issues: Fails, holds, or delays frequently occur if the test application forms (BOM, schematics, user manuals) are incomplete or filled out incorrectly.
  • Test Failures: If a sample fails an initial safety or chemical threshold, the entire process pauses until you modify the product and submit a new batch for re-testing.
