Can supplier reports be reused?

Supplier reports can be reused for product compliance, but only if the underlying part, material composition, and regulatory scope remain completely unchanged.

When you cannot reuse supplier reports:

  • Design or material changes: Any update to a product that alters safety, labeling, or chemical composition requires a fresh assessment.
  • Outdated regulations: Using old substance thresholds (such as updated REACH Candidate Lists or new PPWR packaging criteria) invalidates generic past declarations.
  • Vague scope: Company-level letters that are undated or lack specific part-and-parcel traceability cannot be accepted as valid proof.
  • Unverified attachments: Storing loose email files without a controlled review workflow creates false compliance confidence.
