Your access to the Canadian market can be arranged via ISED certification.
Manufacturers which have products with radio technologies must comply with the regulatory requirements set by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) in order to get market approval.
Each manufacturer must obtain ISED certification for the device to be allowed on the Canadian market. The applicant must also be registered with ISED and hold a company number (CN). After official certification of the device by ISED, the approval is permanently valid.
Testing your product for ISED approval does not have to be carried out by local laboratories, but it has to be carried out by ISED accredited laboratories.
Also anyone offering radio equipment on the Canadian market must have a registered company address in Canada or must nominate a local representative (needed for the approval process), who is capable of responding to inquiries and who can provide post-certification audit samples at no charge to ISED.
The Canadian technical requirements for radio transmitters are set by the Radio Standards Specifications (RSS). Certification of radio equipment means that the equipment complies with the RSS requirements in accordance with Radio Standards Procedure (RSP). A “Technical Acceptance Certificate” is issued accordingly.
After obtaining this certificate, the product is placed on the Radio Equipment List (REL), after which it can be released onto the market. The REL is an ISED publication, listing radio equipment which has been certified for use in Canada. The REL includes information related to the device, such as the RF output power, Occupied bandwidth and frequency range.
