What is the GITEKI mark?

The Giteki mark is a compliance symbol indicating that radio and telecommunication equipment conforms to Japan’s technical regulations. It is administered under the authority of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC).

What the Mark Represents

  • Legal Compliance: Proves a device meets the strict requirements of Japan’s Radio Law and Telecommunications Business Act.
  • Safe Operation: Ensures wireless emissions from devices like Wi-Fi routers and smartphones do not disrupt critical or public radio frequencies.
  • Designation Letters: Accompanied by an “R” for radio equipment or a “T” for telecommunication terminal equipment, alongside a unique ID string.

Requirements and Usage

  • Mandatory Placement: Must be visibly printed on the physical product label or shown within the digital software settings screen.
  • Penalties: Using non-certified wireless equipment that lacks the Giteki mark within Japan constitutes a violation of national radio laws.
