What is a Declaration of Conformity?

A Declaration of Conformity (DoC) is an official, legally binding document issued by a manufacturer stating that their product meets all mandatory regulatory, safety, and environmental standards for the marketplace where it is sold.

Core Elements of a DoC

  • Legal Accountability: It represents the manufacturer (or importer) formally taking sole legal responsibility for the product’s compliance.
  • Traceability: It links the specific product model directly to the applied laws and independent laboratory test reports.
  • Prerequisite for Markings: It serves as the mandatory legal foundation required before a manufacturer can legally affix compliance logos, such as the CE Mark in Europe or the UKCA Mark in the United Kingdom.
