Questions & Answers
Is the DoC submitted to authorities?
No, a Declaration of Conformity is not automatically submitted to government authorities when created.
Instead, it must be held on file by the manufacturer, importer, or authorized representative for a mandatory period of 10 years after the last unit of that product is placed on the market.
When you must hand it over:
You are legally required to provide the document immediately when requested by:
- Market Surveillance Authorities: Government agencies (like customs, health and safety boards, or trading standards) conducting random audits or investigating product safety issues.
- Online Marketplaces: Commercial platforms like Amazon, which mandate submission before your listing is allowed to go live or during category-wide safety sweeps.
- Commercial Buyers: Distributors, retailers, or corporate clients who require proof of compliance before purchasing your inventory.
